Life and Times of a Teenage Nerd

 { insert a witty title here }

Mondays are flooping stupid.

I feel like I didn't even have a weekend because my family went out of town Friday night after school. We went to my grandma's house. All day Saturday I watched television and wrote some more on a Digimon fanfiction that I started. (I'm probably going to try and keep this one short...) So, basically, my mind was mush all day Saturday due to watching cartoons and low-budget sci-fi movies. On Sunday, we went to church and then to my cousin's house for a birthday party. My cousin Evan turned a year old. I got a bunch of cute photos with my digital camera of him eating his birthday cake. Dylan, Evan's older brother, told Evan that he's a "messy boy" since Evan had chocolate cake all over his face. It was very cute.

That was basically my weekend. I got an hour on the computer Sunday night, which definitely wasn't enough time. Then again, I did see the message that my friend Michelle sent me on Myspace. Michelle and I have known each other since like 2003. We met on an Animorphs messageboard and immediately clicked. Since then, we've exchanged e-mails and become like sisters. I know that, whenever I have a problem, I can write her an e-mail and get a response in a few days that usually makes me feel much better. I'm very glad that she finally messaged me; we haven't talked since last year. We've both been busy this year with school. She's a freshman in college and I'm a senior in high school, so our worlds are a little hectic as of late.

Today I was planning on spending all night on the computer, but it turns out that plan was lost from the get-go. My parents got the electric bill in the mail today, and they couldn't figure out why it was like ten times the amount it normally is. I guess it turns out that the guys who put up our fence didn't quite fix the electrical line they hit while they were digging the holes for the wooden posts. So, instead of waiting for my mom to finish talking to my grandma, I had to wait til she was finished talking to my grandma, to my aunt, and to an old neighbor who is an electrician who told us what he figured was going on with our electrical lines. I sat by and watched as 10:00 (my bedtime on school nights) drew nearer and nearer. My brother wanted to check his Myspace (he's a Myspaceaholic) so that meant I'd have even LESS time than I would if he'd just left me alone.

So, now it's almost 10:20 and I have dishes that need to be washed. It's past my bedtime and I'm still pretty because I wasn't able to get as much time on the Internet as I would have liked. These are the problems of having dial-up and a younger brother who is a Myspaceaholic: 1) When the 'rents are using the phone, there's no possible way to go on the 'net & 2)My brother is practically always asking me to check his Myspace. He's telling me that he gets to have the Internet all night tomorrow (somewhere between 7:00 to 10:00), even though I only get to have it for...say...40 or so minutes. HOW IS THAT FAIR?!?!?

Erg. Steven told me he gets to go on the Internet whenever he wants to at his house because he doesn't have siblings there who he has to take turns with. It can be nice sometimes to have a sibling, but other times it's better when they don't exist for a few hours so that you can do something you want to do without having to share it with them. I love my little brother, but sometimes it's just so frustrating.

Oh, well. I guess I should get off and go wash dishes...though I REALLY don't want to wash dishes right now. I'm tired and angry and down right frustrated over that stupid electric bill...

Why is it every time I want to do something on the Internet, something or someone stops me from going on, but whenever my brother wants to get on, the only thing hindering him is the 30 minute wait while my mom talks to my grandma?!?!? That seems to happen every time I REALLY want to go on the Internet, especially after a weekend where I didn't get a chance to go on. And I might not even get the chance next weekend because my mom said that my brother could have his friends over, and they hang out in the cat room where the computer is and play loud videogames the whole time they're here! So if they do come over, there goes my time on the Internet! Maybe I should invite one of my friends over this weekend, just so I have something else to do that will distract me from not having the Internet. Then again, I'm having a birthday party sometime soon...

I'm going to go before I start spewing out any more frustrations. I'm sleepy and I want to go to bed.

G'night.

Ewes and Rams and Hiking Hills and Hanging out With Dawn and Casey

I had so much fun today!!!

Dawn and I went to see the baby sheep of our friend, Casey. We met Casey last year at the local fair during the summer. His ewes have had a ram and two ewes!!! I'm trying to convince my parents to let me buy the little ram from Casey. Dawn is most likely going to buy one of the baby ewes from Casey. I'm going to have a wether (castrated ram) and name him Romeo! (And I'm hoping that sheep is Casey's baby ram!) Dawn is thinking of maybe naming her ewe Juliet! (I can't remember if I've said this in an earlier post...)

Anyway, I woke up at about 9:00 this morning and read Eclipse (the third Stephenie Meyer book) until 10:00. (I finished New Moon last night!) Then I got out of bed, ate some Eggo waffles, and sat on the couch to read more of Eclipse. I got sleepy, so I fell asleep on the couch with Bandit in my lap until my brother came out of his room at around 11:30.

He started watching License to Wed (Robin Williams movie) and I sort of watched with him. Then Dawn called and said she was heading into town to pick up Casey and wanted to know if I could go with them to see the baby sheep! I asked my dad (my mom was out shopping) if I could go, and he said yes.

So, I got dressed, ate a sandwich, and grabbed my cell phone and digital camera. Then Dawn and Casey came and picked me up. It took us about an hour to get out to Casey's house. He lives out in the middle of nowhere!!!

When we got there, we went and saw the baby sheep. Casey's dad said that the little ram is going to be a big guy. I could tell because he looked big, even from a distance, and he's only a few weeks old. Casey said he'd sell them for $150, but Dawn said she'd probably give him $200. I said $150 was good enough for me. (My past sheep have been $250, but they were from people I wasn't friends with.)

Once we'd finished looking at the sheep (and taking pictures of them), we stood around and talked. Then, we hiked up the hill behind his house. It was rough because the hill was really steep, but we did make it all the way to the top.

On the way up, we picked up rocks and threw them down the hill. We also grabbed fallen tree branches and pretended we were bucks (male deer) and rammed each other with the branches. Dawn and I had a duel with two branches; she won because all of the "prongs" on my branch fell off. We also threw twigs at each other.

Casey told us about the tree with the cement slab that was at the top of the hill, but Dawn and I misunderstood what he was saying and thought he said that there was a tree made of cement at the top. So we started calling it the cement tree. But, really, there was just a slab of cement right next to the tree. Casey said he didn't know why it was put there.

We took a rest next to the "cement tree" and took pictures of each other. Dawn had brought her digital camera, too. We got awesome pictures of the tree, and I got some good ones of Dawn doing funny poses. It was a really cool view from the top of the hill; we could see the mountains way off into the distance.

After we got bored of the top of the hill, we headed down a road back to Casey's house. It was a lot quicker going down the hill. Casey played funny music on his phone while we walked down. He has a lot of funny sound effects on his phone, too. We listened to birds chirping, a bonfire crackling, and other funny sounds.

Once we got back to his house, we went and met his dogs. He has six dogs. I can only remember Moose and Oreo. Moose is their newest dog. He's a Rottweiler/Great Dane mix. He's seven months old and he was huge! That is going to be one big dog!!!

After we finished meeting the dogs and taking pictures of them, we headed inside the house to have something to drink. Dawn drank some sort of strawberry lemonade juice; Casey had milk, I think; and I had Sunny D.

Then we went into Casey's tiny room. Dawn and I sat on his bed because we were tired. (My legs were shaking because I was so tired.) He showed us a bunch of stuff he had. He showed us a book that he'd gotten from Scotland, the giant card his girlfriend got him for Valentine's Day, and a stuffed animal that looked like a yak. Then he started digging around for stuff and found a zebra figure, which Dawn went crazy over. She named the zebra Shirley.

Then Casey found some old, stretchy, textbook covers that had weird designs on them. He put one over his face. I said he looked like an alien, so I got my camera and took pictures of him. He said he had a hard time breathing with the thing on his face.

By that time, it was after five. So Dawn and I decided to head home. Casey said he'd drive us out to a street that would take us back into town, so that we wouldn't get lost.

So, Dawn and I got into her car, and Casey got into his family's Suburu. We left first and Casey drove behind us before he found a spot where he could pull in front of us. We hadn't even gone 2 miles when Casey suddenly pulled over. Dawn stopped next to him and I rolled down the window. He asked us if he had a flat tire. We looked, and, sure enough, he had a flat tire!

Dawn and I laughed and waited for him to drive back to his house (yes, on a flat tire!) so he could go get his Dad's Dodge truck instead. The flat tire made a "chunk" noise as he drove away. Dawn and I thought it didn't sound very good.

While we were waiting, Dawn and I listened to the silence around us. I took more pictures of the scenery and of Dawn before Casey finally came back.

After that, we switched back and forth and played "follow the leader" with our cars. Sometimes, Dawn and I would be in front, and other times Casey would be in front. One time when we were behind him, Dawn showed me how to "coast" her car. It was hilarious to watch Casey way up ahead of us looking all confused as he would slow down and then go forward and then stop and wait for us and then go forward.

Once we got to the road that would take us back into town, we said our good-byes to Casey. Then Dawn drove us into town. We called Cassidy (Dawn's boyfriend) to ask him if Dawn's mom had made dinner. Her mom hadn't made dinner, so we headed to Taco Bell. I had a tortilla with chicken in it and a Mountain Dew Baja Blast to drink. I think Dawn had some tacos. Once we were done, Dawn ordered something to take home to Cassidy.

Then we headed to my house. We were freaking out as we got to the spot where we'd hit that barn owl. I still can't get the picture of that owl out of my head! We didn't hit anything tonight, thank goodness.

I showed my parents and brother all the pictures I'd taken. I also told my parents about how Casey's dad said the little ram was going to be big, and that Casey has a sheep that won Grand Champion, so that's a clue that his sheep are really good. I forgot to tell them he's selling the little ram for only $150. Oops!

And that was my day today! I had tons of fun. I'm so glad Dawn took me out to do something exciting! I really needed to do something that could break me out of my funk! Yay!

G'night!

Mood Swings and Books and Car Rides with Steven...I've Been Busy!

I know I haven't been on in a while, but I've been in a strange funk lately. I'm sorta kinda having large mood swings going from depressed, to happy, to neutral. I don't know exactly how to describe the funk I've been in, to be honest. I just know that I've been really weird lately, and I've been trying to pretend that I'm completely fine so nobody figures out that I'm in a funk.

Earlier this week, Dawn told me that she and Tailor weren't going to be at lunch on Friday (today, technically). Dawn was absent the majority of last week, so Tailor and I had to hang out together all last week. It pretty much stinks having only two friends to hang out with during lunch. If one of them isn't there, there are only two of us. If the other two aren't there, I'm all alone. Anyway, I knew I was going to be alone at lunch today and it made me feel really depressed because it reminded me how few friends I have to hang out with during lunch.

I woke up this morning feel queasy, and the sickness lasted all day. The only times I felt okay was when I got lost reading New Moon, the second book in Stephenie Meyer's vampire love story, which I'm borrowing from Steven, and when I was talking to Mel and Steven in Economics about the book.

WARNING: SPOILERS TO NEW MOON AHEAD! STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT THE BOOK TO BE SPOILED!

During lunch, I read New Moon and I got up to the point where Bella (the main character who is telling the story) is just figuring out that the guy she's been hanging out with for a few months (Jacob) has turned into a werewolf. In Twilight, the first book, Bella fell in love with Edward, who she found out is a vampire. Edward left Bella in Forks, the rainy little town she lives in with her dad, because he thought that he was too much of a bad influence on Bella. When Edward left, Bella went into a depressed, zombie-like state until she started hanging out with Jacob. Bella starts to sort of fall in love with Jacob, but she's still crazy in love with Edward, so she wants to remain just friends with Jacob. There were all these clues leading up to the fact that Jacob was turning into a werewolf, and Bella didn't realize it until she had a dream where Jacob was turning into a massive wolf. I was practically screaming at her while I reading because she was so stupid not to realize it sooner. I was nauseous while I was reading and I could still figure it out!

So, I mentioned that to Steven and Mel in Economics today and they agreed with me. Mel told me that she would pick Jacob over Edward. I thought about having to choose between a werewolf and a vampire. Vampires (and this is all according to Stephenie Meyer) have extremely cold skin; rock hard bodies; and some of them hunt humans. Werewolves are massive; have very heated skin; and they prey on vampires. I'm not sure which I would pick! Mel said she'd pick Jacob because he's so friendly and cuddly and warm. Steven said (jokingly) that she'd pick Jacob because he's tall, like her. (Mel is one of the tallest girls in our grade.) She laughed and didn't deny it.

After Economics, school got out because of early release. I still wasn't feeling good, so I asked Steven if he could give me a ride to the library so I didn't have to walk. It took us like two minutes to drive there when it would have taken me ten minutes to walk! Steven volunteers at the library occasionally, so he talked with the librarian(s) while we both checked out our books. I got Eclipse, the third book in Stephenie Meyer's series. (The library finally had it!!!)

I checked the clock and realized that it was going to be another half an hour before my mom came to pick me up. Not wanting to wait in the library with a queasy tummy, I asked Steven if he didn't mind driving me home. He said it was okay, so I called my mom and told her that I she didn't have to pick me up. Steven's car looks even nicer in the daylight. I've only ever ridden in his car at night when he gave me a ride home from the Star Party.

Well, I'm going to go see if I can find something on the Internet to occupy myself. If not, then I'm going to get off and go read more of New Moon!

G'night.

 What a Busy Week

It's been a couple of days since I was last on here, but I've been pretty busy. One night I didn't go on because I rented Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. The next night I didn't come because my brother wanted to go on. Last night I wasn't on because I had a Star Party to go to for my Astronomy class. (The class meets up with the teacher so he can show us the constellations that we're learning.)

But I'm here now, so I might as well blab on about what I've been up to.

Dawn was absent earlier this week due to being sick. I was very sad. But she was only gone one day, so it was all good.

There was a fundraiser for "Grad Night" at one of the pizza parlors in town, and Steven said he was going to volunteer there. I convinced my dad to take me over there. We got pizza for dinner, since we were there anyway, and while we were waiting for the pizza, Steven and I talked for about ten minutes.

That same night, I watched Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. I also watched the little short Pikachu movie that came with it. The Pikachu short was rather disappointing. It was like watching Teletubbies or some other show created for five year olds. The narrator was translating for the Pokemon, and it looked way too corny. What happened to the good Pikachu shorts from when I was younger???

The actual movie was great. The plot was interesting, but there were spots where the dialogue was way too cheesy and didn't seem right. There are new voices for Ash, Brock, and the members of Team Rocket. I was very put off from Ash's new voice; I think it's much too harsh a voice for him. Sadness! I miss the old voices! But, alas, every good thing has to end sooner or later...

Anyway...yesterday I went to the Astronomy Star Party. Luckily, it's located not even five minutes from my house! My dad drove me there, but he was going grocery shopping and said he wouldn't be able to give me a ride home. So, I asked Steven if he could give me a ride. (Steven is in my Astronomy class, if I haven't already said that somewhere.) Steven just recently shed his "provisional driver" status (that's what it's called when you can't drive minors, right??) and he gladly gave me a ride home. He's got a really nice car. Don't ask me to name whether it was Honda or whatever...I'm not a car person.

So, that was my really busy week! I'm going to go now because I've got a headache. I hope I'm not getting sick!

 Shopping! Whoo!

I woke up this morning at about 9:00 and read a book until 9:30. Then my dad came in saying that we were going clothes shopping today because I needed jeans and shoes. I didn't really want to go, but I went anyway.

We went to a fence store to get prices of fencing. We want to build a fence around our house so that we can let Bandit, our new puppy, out without having to worry that he's going to run around and get into trouble. There was a machine in the store that sold candy, so I bought some Skittles and ate them while my parents were talking to the guy about fences.

After that, we went to Wendy's for lunch. I got my usual kid's meal hamburger with pickles and ketchup only. I know I'm seventeen, but I still like getting kid's meals. I'm cool like that. My meal came with a little puppy stuffed animals that was SO CUTE! I named him Dublin. Isn't that a cute name for a puppy stuffed animal???

When we finished lunch, we went to Wal-Mart. My mom and I tried some jeans on there, but none of them fit right. All of the ones I'd grabbed were low-cut "hip-hugger" jeans and I HATE those! I think they're stupid because they cut right across my little pudge of a belly. Dawn wants me to wear them, but I hate them and refuse to wear them. Bleh to hip-hugger jeans!

Anyway, I did buy something at Wal-Mart! I bought My Sims, a DS game where you run around as a little Sim and fix up a town so that tourists start flocking. It's really fun!

We went to Kohls next to find some more jeans to try on. My mom and I both found TWO pairs of jeans, which is a big thing for us because it takes us FOREVER to find jeans. The funny thing is, the jeans we got are the exact same style, just different sizes. So, my mom and I pretty much have the exact same pairs of jeans!!! I'm okay with it though, because my mom hardly ever gets anything for herself, and we're built so much the same that us having the same pairs of jeans was bound to happen!

I also got a new pair of shoes at Kohls!!! They're a pair of Vans. I consider them sneakers, but you could call them "skater shoes" too, if you wanted. They're black, red, and white plaid. I need to put in different shoelaces though, because I don't like the shoelaces they came with.

So, today was a good day! YAY!
