Life and Times of a Teenage Nerd

Let the Good Times Roll On...No Longer a High School Senior

I got my new sheep!!! I have named her Rosalie, after Rosalie Hale from Twilight by Stephenie Meyer!

She didn't eat her food the first couple of times, but she seems to love alfalfa. Now she's a total pig and is eating the sheep feed as well. This morning, she had alfalfa all over her head. She's a messy eater!

Well, today was the last day of school. It was "senior check out day" for all of the seniors. We had to go to ALL of our classes and have our teachers sign us out and write whether we'd passed their class or not. I'll go through each period.

Period 1: Dawn and I passed AP Statistics! YAY!!! She got 100 on the final, and I got 96. (It was outta like 150 or something...) I don't know what my actual grade turned out to be, but I do know that I passed! The teacher got all teary-eyed when everybody left her class. She made me want to cry as well!

Period 2: I took down some artwork from the wall for the Art teacher that I was a teacher's aide for. Then another girl and I took her Study Hall books back to the library. Somehow, she got ahold of a Spanish book that hasn't even been used yet. It was a brand new book without a barcode or anything! The librarians were very confused on how she'd gotten ahold of it. The teacher gave me a congrats for graduating card, and inside was a $20 Borders gift card. I'm totally spending it on Cats of the Clan, the new book out by Erin Hunter that tells about the cats in the four Clans of the series.

Period 3: Ag 4! I went on the computer and checked my e-mail. Then I wrote some more for my Warriors fanfiction series. That was all I did...and I forgot to get the teacher to sign my yearbook!

Period 4: English. The teacher passed out printer paper and told kids to write something nice for her. I got out some markers and made her a pretty awesome piece of paper saying thanks for such a great senior year. She gave everybody hugs as we all walked out of the door.

Then we had lunch. Dawn, Tailor, and I were sitting laughing and having a good time when Steven showed up. I don't know if he deliberately showed up or not, but he sat down and hung with us. We had tons of laughs and Dawn and I told Steven that he has to read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series.

Period 5: Steven and I walked to Astronomy together. The teacher had us fill out a suvery about what was good and what was bad about the schedule that the school has been using for the past ten or fifteen years. Then we watched an episode of The Simpsons. I doodled cats and birds and stuff while we were watching. Steven read the Prologue I had written for Warriors #3 Tricks of Magick, the third book in my Warriors fanfiction series. He said it was really good and that I was really good at capturing the evilness of the DarkClan (evil) characters.

Period 6: Steven and I walked to Economics together. I explained some aspects of my Warriors fanfiction that he was confused about, since he hasn't read the first two books in my series. Economics was awesome. We chatted a little bit, argued over which movie we were going to watch, and then eventually watched half an hour of Cars. The teacher thanked me for returning to his class, even though I'd already taken Economics the first semester and didn't need to take it again. (I chose to because I had 3 friends in the class and the teacher is just that awesome.)

Period 7: Diana and I played hangman. She had "I like bananas" and I had "I want to cry, I'm so happy!" We also played a word game where one of us would start a sentence, and we'd take turns adding a word to each sentence. We came up with some pretty funny sentences.

Period 8: I went with Diana to the gym to have our papers get finished signing. By that time, it was half an hour before school officially got out. I was supposed to ride the bus home, but I didn't feel like riding the bus after my last day of high school. So, I waited around trying to find Steven to ask for a ride home, but he disappeared. So I walked to the library, checked out a bunch of books, and got something to eat and drink at the gas station right next to the library.

It was a nice day. I almost started crying while I was sitting in Photography, though. Good thing I was alone!

I can't believe my high school days are over! I'm really going to miss it.

::cries::sobs::

Can you tell that I like school?

Steven said he was really sad, too. We're both such study-oriented people.

I can't believe it!!!

::cries::sobs::

I had such a wonderful time. Sure, my 9th and 10th grade years weren't the best, but overall it was pretty awesome. My senior year was definitely the best. The JPL trip...my birthday party...the prom...Fanimecon...becoming friends with Steven...hanging with Dawn and Tailor...watching Dawn perform for Color Guard...

::cries::sobs::

Okay, I'm done. I'm going to go now before I really start to cry!

I wish it didn't have to end.

Prom, Fanime, and The End of the School Year

PROM WAS FANTASTIC!!!

I had SSSOOO much fun!!!

First, we (Steven, Dawn, Cassidy, and me) went to a restaurant where one of Dawn's friend, Trevor, works. (We saw Trevor there with his girlfriend, who was his date to the prom.) Anyway, the food was awesome. I got some sort of seafood pasta salad thingie with noodles and shrimp and fish. The noodles weren't all that great, but the shrimp and fish were awesome.

After dinner, we headed to the prom. Steven missed the turn onto the street so we had to sort of back up real quick so that he didn't get off onto the freeway.

Dawn and I got out of the car and waited for Steven and Cassidy to park the car. Once that was done, we headed over to give the people our tickets. There were tables with lots of masks, so Dawn and Cassidy grabbed some for themselves. We headed inside to find the dance floor. There was a hallway where you could go give some ladies anything like coats, purses, and stuff. I went to put my purse and my mask away. One of the ladies, who was a professional photographer, saw my mask and said she just HAD to get a picture of me with it. So I posed for her, and then they put my stuff away.

We found Trevor, his girlfriend, and some of Trevor's friends playing poker with pink cards at one of the tables out in the back. They were using mints as poker chips. Since I don't play poker, I just sat at the table and watched everyone else play. I ate my share of the mints.

Dawn and I went to check out the chocolate fountain when she got bored playing poker. I had Oreos and some other stuff dipped in chocolate. It was yummy, but it sort of made my stomach ache.

We had tons of people stop by our table during the night. I saw Ryan. There were some people who Dawn and I used to hang out with named Carmen and Matt, who were there together. Some girl named Vanessa was there with her date, whose name I forget despite the fact he sits two seats away from me in my Astronomy class. A guy named Charlie, who was on my brother's cross country and track teams, and who is also in a few of my classes, was there as well. Charlie was there with Jessica, a girl from the color guard team who is also Tailor's best friend.

Sometime later, I went to go to the restroom. There was a long line in front of the restroom because it was in the same hallway as the coat check-in. It took me forever to get into the bathroom, and when I did a bunch of girls were screaming from outside, "Opening the f***ing door!" Of course, I tried hurrying as quickly as I could, but it was difficult with all the layers of my dress, and then my underwear and my nylons...it was chaos!!! When I finally opened the door, I was practically trampled by no less than FIVE girls who were all clamboring into the bathroom. They even nearly shut the door on my foot! A few of the people standing in the line looked sympathetically at me, and a few were glaring at the bathroom door. I just sort of whispered, "Geez!"

I forgot about that incident later, because Vanessa realized we were both wearing the same style of dress, just in different colors. She decided we needed to twirl because our dresses would fly up, so I went and twirled with her. I thought I was going to fall over, but it turns out she did instead. She nearly toppled headfirst into a badly placed trashcan. Jessica and I helped her to her feet. We were all laughing pretty hard.

Later, Vanessa gathered me and two other girls (one being Jessica, and the other I think another girl from the color guard team) who had dresses that flew up when we twirled. We played a twirling game where we all stood in a square and then twirled one after the other, or two at a time. It was lots of fun. Then Vanessa said we should grab our dates, so I grabbed Steven. He and the other guys twirled us some more. I ran into one of the girls and my glasses got knocked askew, but it was still lots of fun. I guess you could say I "let my hair down" for a while.

We heard an announcement saying that there was a last call for anyone wanting to take pictures, so we (Steven, Dawn, Cassidy, and me) all rushed upstairs to get our pictures taken. We had to wait for a little for others to get their pictures taken. The second story had a huge open space with a railing around it that looked down onto the dance floor below. Since I'm afraid of heights, I got all queasy and had to sit down on one of the couches they had upstairs. Steven saw me sitting down, so he came over and sat down with me so I wasn't alone. Dawn and Cass were over at the railing watching the people down below. Once our pictures were taken, we headed back downstairs.

The last twenty minutes of the prom, we (Steven, Dawn, Cassidy, and me) all stood in line waiting to get drinks. Dawn and Cassidy were the only two to get any drinks, since Steven and I weren't really thirsty. It was really stupid.

We headed back to my house. Dawn and Cassidy spent the night, so the two of them and I changed back into normal clothes. I felt sorry for Steven, who had to stay in his tux. We played Uno Attack for about an hour before Dawn decided she wanted to sleep. So, I walked Steven out to his car and said thanks for coming with me. Then, I headed inside and went to sleep on the couch.

Prom was so awesome!!!

That was two weekends ago. Last weekend, I went with Dawn and Cassidy up toward San Francisco to attend an anime convention called Fanimecon. It was my first time at an anime convention, and it was spectacular.

There were tons of cosplayers (people in costume) from all sorts of anime, videogames, movies, etc. I dressed up as Yolei Inoue from Digimon 02. Dawn went as Hinoki from an anime I didn't recognize. Cassidy didn't have a costume.

We met up with Tailor, Jessica, and a few other people we knew from school while we were there. Tailor was having trouble with her friends because they were getting into fights amongst themselves and trying to drag her into the debates. Tailor didn't want to have any part of it, so she hung out with us the entire weekend. One night she even came and spent the night with us in our hotel because there were too many people in her hotel room. (They had one hotel room with SIX people staying in it!!!)

I bought lots of awesome stuff. During a swap meet, I found a bunch of Runaways books, which is a comicbook series that I just absolutely LOVE. I also got a Kilala plushie, a Kilala hat, a bookbag that reads "So Many Books...So Little Time", some kitty cat pins, lots of Pocky, and food. (Kilala is a little fox demon thing from an anime called Inuyasha.)

I had tons of fun. My feet were killing me in my boots, which were actually Ugg boots that I painted to look like Yolei's green and white boots. I was sad when the paint started falling off, but it was really funny because I left white flecks everywhere I went.

At one point in time, we (Dawn, Cassidy, Tailor, and me) were sitting on a corner with signs reading, "Hugs Pwease" and "Pat Our Heads Please." Dawn and I both had kitty-eared hats, so we thought we might get people to come pat our heads. It was going great until some official Asian guy who barely spoke English came over and said, "No signs." The atmosphere around us was so happy, but the minute he said those words, it was like a black hole had sucked out all the happiness from the air. Everyone around us got really sad, including us. Some guy told us that last year had been really awesome because people had signs everywhere. I guess their rules got really strict because someone holding a sign got hurt last year. At least, that's what we heard.

Just before that, we were sitting there waving at random people to see if they would wave back. We were having tons of fun. Tailor and I counted over 200 people who waved back. Some waved back with lots of enthusiasm, while others just looked at us weird. Waving at random people and holding up signs saying "Hugs Pwease" are just traditional things you DO at an anime convention, but the officials took that away from us.

I got glomped by a passerby who saw our signs before they got put down by that Asian who barely spoke English. It was my first time being glomped!

Definition of "glomp"...well...heh...it's sort of like a big, enthusiastic hug. Tailor gives really good glomps; I saw her glomp about three people.

But Fanimecon was really awesome despite the sadness of having no signs.

Coming back to reality was really hard, especially after I found out from my sheep advisor that Romeo's legs are bowed, and that I shouldn't show him because I will most likely be put into "Group 3" which means I wouldn't be able to sell him at auction. I think that is the stupidest thing ever. So now I have to get a hold of Casey to see if I can trade Romeo for his last ewe. I really wanted a wether this year!!!!

I'm going to go before I rant on about how stressed out I'm getting because the end of the school year is coming. The end of senior year is so BUSY!!! I can't believe how many things the school planned fro us to do!! Ug.

Good night.

 PROM IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

THAT was for the fact that prom is THIS SATURDAY!!!!!!!

EEEEEE!

I asked Steven to prom and he said YES!!! I'M SO HAPPY I HAVE SOMEONE TO GO WITH!!! It would've have been boring if I didn't have someone to go with, and Steven is like the only guy friend that I have that I'd be willing to go to prom with.

I asked to talk to him after Economics. While we were heading for his car, I asked if he was planning on going to prom. He said he didn't really have the money. I told him that I'd told my mom about his financial situation (and the fact that I was going to ask him to go with me) and that we'd pay for the tickets as long as he can get a tuxedo or suit to wear. When he heard that, he said, "Okay, well, I guess I'm taking you to prom." I am so happy!!!!

Dawn squealed FOREVER when she found out. Tailor was extremely happy for me. My dad and mom were very happy. My brother (being my brother) didn't seem to care much.

Last weekend I went shopping with my mom, Dawn, and Tailor to find me a prom dress. I found the best dress!!! It's yellow with a see-through pink layer on top that has pink satin at the hem. It's strapless, which is totally not me, but it's such a pretty dress that I just had to get it!!! AND IT WAS ONLY $17.99!!!! OMG!!! I also got a REALLY cute white sundress with blue and black flowers on it. It's so cute!!! I found shoes Sunday that were only $15.00!!!! I also found a really pretty, pink pearl necklace. It was the most expensive part of the outfit at $40.00, but it was on sale from $133.00!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow my mom and I are going to put together a mask because the theme is "Unmasked" and it's a masqurade prom. (Which I think is stupid, because what about us people with glasses? If I tried to wear a mask, I wouldn't be able to see! I have to put mine on a stick and HOLD IT all night long!!! Lucky I'm taking a purse along so I can stick it in there if I get tired of holding it!)

Steven says his shirt is pink and his tux is black. I hope we match!!!

We're going to eat dinner first at either Denny's or Carrows. Dawn likes Denny's, but I like Carrows. We're taking Steven's car because his is nicer and not as messy as Dawn's. (The ceiling of her car is falling off...) Dawn is going with Cassidy, of course. Her dress is hot pink, extremely poofy, and strapless like mine. There are black scrawly flowers on the dress, too. It's really pretty. She's making Cassidy wear a pink tie to match her!

Steven told me his whole family got really excited when they found out he was going to prom. I asked him if his mom would like to meet me, since I'm going to prom with her son after all! I don't think I've officially met her yet...I think I saw her drive by one time when Steven and I were bell ringing for Interact Club earlier this school year...

Anyway, I'm TOTALLY excited!!! I'm not sick anymore, either! YAY!!!

Life is looking pretty good right now, except for the fact that I'm swamped with school work. Dawn didn't show up in class today to start working on our math project, so we're going to have to do it on Sunday because it's due Monday. I wasn't very happy when she didn't show up. I had to work with the data all by myself! It was way too many numbers!

I better go wash the dishes now before I get yelled at!

Bye!

a very very very very very very excited karia_roses

 sickness and sweetness and stressfulness

I WOKE UP WITH A SORE THROAT AND A HEADACHE on the 23 of April!!! It was so horrible! My mom thought I was faking sick so I could stay home and read Outcast, but I was REALLY sick!!! The sickness went from sore throat/headache to sore throat/runny nose and then went to clogged up nose. I was having trouble sleeping at night because I couldn't breathe and then I developed a cough. I had an orientation to go to for college last Wednesday, and I nearly fainted when I got to the college because I wasn't feeling good. Dawn told me she'd never seen me look so dead before. Turns out I have a sinus infection. I was so sick that I'd forgotten the Astronomy trip was this weekend!!! My dad reminded me on Wednesday, and I was afraid I wasn't going to feel well enough to go.

But I did go!!!

AND IT WAS SO TOTALLY AWESOME!!!

Steven and I sat on the bus together for the 4-5 hour long drive. We made two stops before we got to the Griffith Observatory. One stop was at a rest stop to let people stretch and use the bathroom, and the second stop was at a buffet restaurant called Souplantation. While there, I burned my entire upper lip on a baked potato. It feels like I've been stung by a bunch of bees!!!

Once we got to the Griffith Observatory, the teacher told us that we would be seeing a planetarium show at a certain time. So Steven and I walked around and looked at the museum and the displays that they had. We'd already learned about tons of the things that was saw, like the moon phases and how the moon affects tides and stuff.

The planetarium show was WAY COOL!!! We went inside a HUGE dome and sat in seats that were bent back so we could see the dome ceiling better. They had this huge black globe thing that cast the pictures of the show on the ceiling. There was one scene where it showed the entire night sky with all the stars and then the constellations were outlined. The lady told the story of how the universe was thought to be created. Everything on the screen shrank into this tiny ball and then exploded in a flash of bright color and sound. IT WAS SSSOOO COOL!!!!!!!

When the show was over, we got back onto the bus and headed to the hotel we were going to spend the night in. I was roomed with two girls who were really nice about my coughing situation. They told me that I actually didn't cough too much during the night, which was a good thing. We watched a little t.v. before going to sleep.

The next morning, we got our wake up call. I'm not sure if it was the phone ringing or someone knocking on the door that woke me up. I just noticed that it was 7:00 and that I needed to get up and get ready. I was the first one out of the three of us who was ready, so I left to go and get breakfast. I had a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and a Danish with some milk. Steven was up before me and finished just as I got there, so he left to go back to his room and read until we had to leave. I finished my breakfast and then checked my e-mail on one of the available computers the hotel had.

I loaded my stuff on the bus and helped a couple girls clean up some of the trash on the bus. The kids behind Steven and me had been trying to force a girl to eat some gummy bears, but she grabbed the bag and threw it and gummy bears got everywhere. I found a bunch of the bears stuffed into the crevice of one of the bus seats and I had to go digging for them. It was really gross, but at least I cleaned up the place a bit.

Once everyone was awake and all the key cards had been turned in, we all got onto the bus again. Then we headed off to Jet Propulsion Laborotory (JPL). The place was HUGE compared to the Griffith Observatory. It took us all day to look around. We got there at around 9:00 in the morning and didn't leave until 3:00. Steven and I hung out all day and looked at all the neat stuff. Steven remembered a lot more of what we learned than I did. (I have the worst memory ever.) He even told some elderly people some of the stuff he remembered about one of the displays we were all looking at.

I got some pictures of displays. Steven and I were most interested in the Cassini-Huygens stuff because that is the mission we did a project on earlier this year in our Astronomy class. I got a picture of a lifesize picture of the Cassini-Huygens, and I got a picture of a small model of it hanging from the ceiling. I also got some pictures of robots that can climb walls.

Steven and I got some stuff from the JPL stores.

He bought some JPL patches and the astronaut version of chocolate ice cream. I tried some of the stuff and it was okay, but I don't like chocolate ice cream. It would have been better if it had been vanilla.

I got a Cassini-Huygens patch (which I plan on ironing to my I'm Not a Plastic Bag bag), a black teddy bear dressed in an astronaut suit, ooze called Mars Mud, and three alien pens. One of the alien pens looks like a blinking eyeball inside of orange and red ooze. Another of the pens looks sort of like a red Medusa except the snakes are just squiggly things. The last pen is green and is of an alien with one eye much larger than the other, a red beak, and two antenna coming out of his head. I named my teddy bear Castor Prometheus Sponde. The pens are Callisto (the eyeball), Lysithea (the Medusa), and Puck (the alien with antenna).

The trip was tons of fun. The bus ride was the least enjoyable part, except when the majority of the students started singing songs. I joined in when I knew the words, but I didn't sing very loudly because it would have made me start coughing. Steven sang really loud during a few of the songs and even suggested a song to sing when the others couldn't think of any. They sang Hakuna Matata, All Star, Bohemian Rhapsody, and many others. Our teacher actually requested Bohemian Rhapsody so that he could record everyone singing it. They started with the wrong lyrics though and had to sing the song twice!

I'm very happy that I was feeling well enough to go. That would have been terrible if I had to miss the trip!

As for the rest of my life, it's not all that nice. My mom came in earlier and told me that I have to do my senior pictures today even though my lips feel all puffy and dry from being burned on baked potato. I also have to dust the house, finish my math homework, take 20+ pictures for my photography class, and probably tons of other things like send out announcements of my graduation. I have a feeling that I'm not going to be having any real weekends in the next two months...or possibly for the rest of my life.

How does that make me feel?

Like I don't HAVE a life.

These are all things I HAVE to do, so that makes doing them less fun. I hate it when I can't get a break from the chaos. If there's too much stress, I break down.

I better go. I don't want my mom yelling at me again.

Bye...

 OUTCAST CAME OUT TODAY!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE WARRIORS!!!

Outcast by Erin Hunter came out today!!!!

Dawn and I went to Borders after school to go and buy ourselves copies of Outcast. Dawn ran from the car to the store, so I had to run after her. (LOL)We headed directly to the kids' section where the Warriors books are located...and when we got there...THERE WERE NO OUTCAST BOOKS!!!

We FREAKED out and went looking in the New Release section at the front of the store...but the books weren't there either!!!

So we headed to the front of the store to ask one of the Borders people if they knew where it was. The lady looked it up on the computer, but she said she couldn't find anything. So, she headed to the back where the Warriors books normally are and didn't find anything. Dawn looked up the book on another computer, and the computer said that the book was "likely in the store." (DUH...the Warriors website says that the book was coming out today!!!)

Another guy who worked in the store said he'd look for the books for us, since the other girl couldn't find any. Then he asked another lady if she knew, and she said that she'd seen a Warriors book. But the book she saw turned out to be the second manga in the Graystripe manga series.

But...on the same cart...Dawn spotted the word "Outcast" and gave a squeal of excitement...

BECAUSE SHE FOUND THE OUTCAST BOOKS!!!

We grabbed copies and hugged them to our chests and squealed with happiness!!!!

YAY!!!!!!!!

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Warriors SSSOOO much!!!

I also found out that the fourth Percy Jackson book is coming out on May 6th, and when I bought Outcast I got a thing for 30% off the hardcover version of Percy Jackson and The Battle of the Labyrinth when it comes out!!!! EEEEEEEEEEE!!! YAY!!!

I got Dawn into both Warriors and Percy Jackson. She likes cats and Greek mythology.

YAY FOR BOOKS!!!

I love Warriors!!!

Bye!!!
