Life and Times of a Teenage Nerd
Thursday March 4, 2010
I'll try to make it quick! Saw Percy Jackson movie last weekend with Dawn, Cassidy, Tailor, and Zach. It was disappointing, to say the least. They didn't follow the book, and they really should have because the story is just that awesome. Stupid movie people screwing up books. Anyway! Hung out with Dawn, Cass, and the twins yesterday. Garrett is helping Dawn with her singing and Russell was painting her breadbox. Been coming up with some interesting ideas for my Warriors fanfiction series. One idea came to me while I was listening to music with Dawn in her car on the way home from school. I don't know the name of the song, but Dawn says that the band is called Tool. Poor Sam got another virus last month. I got him back last weekend, but I'm afraid that I've gone and done something wrong to him. I don't think it's a virus because it didn't happen until I attempted to get the desktop wallpaper to stop disappearing. Now all my desktop items are shoved to the left side of the screen, and I can't get them to move. I've tried everything I can think of to fix it, but nothing's working. Because I've had three viruses in one year, I've become a bit paranoid about the Internet. I'm updating my AVG virus protection constantly and checking it to see if it's caught anything. I've been running scans every chance I get. I haven't gone back onto Facebook because I found out that it is riddled with viruses, and I'm pretty sure the third virus came from Facebook. So, I haven't been able to check my Farmville. I'm turning 20 later this month. I won't be a teenager any more! The title of this blog won't apply to me anymore. I think I'll just have to make a new blog instead. One with a title that makes more sense! LoL. Going to Grandma's house this weekend for Evan's 3rd birthday. I'm not sure whether we're celebrating my birthday and my Uncle Tommy's birthday as well. I keep forgetting to ask my Mom. I think I'm just going to have my friends over for a sleepover for my birthday, like I do every year. Okay, that's all I've got to say. sorta sleepy karia_roses

Tuesday January 26, 2010
Erm...it's Tuesday. Again. A week since my last post. I don't have too much to say, but I'm going to figure something to say because I feel like typing right now. I've got a little over 30 minutes before Archaeology. Am I going to start a new pattern of blogging on Tuesdays??? We'll just have to wait and see. I had some fun last night. Of course, I should have been at home doing the homework I completely forgot I had. I'll just have to do it tonight. Then again, I'm going out again tonight. What's the best way to remind myself that I have homework? Still haven't figured that out, yet. I write homework down in my homework tracker, but then I never seem to take it out when I get home. Anyway, to stop myself from just rambling, I'll talk about yesterday! Dawn and I carpool to school and home together on Mondays and Wednesdays. Our first class starts at noon, so it's a pretty uneventful morning usually because I don't have to wake up til 10. After my second class, I have about an hour to wait before Dawn gets out of her second class because her second class starts halfway through my second class. So, to pass the time, I head to the library to mess around on my computer. She told me she'd come find me at 3:30, after her class got out. However, yesterday she didn't show up until 4 to get me because she got bombarded by friends. First she saw Garrett, one of the twins. Then she saw Daniel, a guy from her past English class. Then she saw Mel (who Dawn calls by another name which I don't know how to spell...it's like BudaBuda). Then she saw Melissa. And the entire time she was talking to them, I was up in the library wondering what was taking her so long. Then she showed up with Garrett and Melissa tagging along. I packed up my stuff and followed them out into the cold, where we stood around and chatted about random nothingness. Russell, the other twin, showed up and we stood around in a different spot and chatted. Then we went over to the music department and Garrett and Dawn played around on an out-of-tune piano. Then the twins realized they needed to go do something about their textbooks, so they took off. Melissa went with them because she was going in the same direction. Dawn and I followed Daniel around the drama department while we waited for a computer class to get out so Daniel could get something on one of the computers in the classroom. Then we headed to our car and said good-bye to Daniel. Dawn took me home and I dropped my stuff off. I noticed two textbooks on the counter that my Dad went and got for me. He couldn't find the right edition for my Journalism book, but I found out he can get the second to newest edition of the textbook. So, he's going to go back tonight and get it while also trying to sell my Philosophy and Biology textbooks from last semester. He was going to sell my ASL book, but I told him I wanted to keep that one. Added together, the Archaeology and Child Education textbooks were $180 dollars! Or somewhere around that. My Mom was not very happy about it, but neither am I. The cost of textbooks is just ridiculous. Melissa was telling me about how one semester the cost of her books was more expensive than the cost of her tuition. That just seems ridiculous to me. We're using the books for only one semester! Why are they so flooping expensive?! It just seems silly to me that we have to spend so much money on books we're only going to be using for a couple months. Sure, we can usually sell them back, but what happens if the bookstores refuse to take back the copy for some reason? That's 80 or more dollars down the drain, practically. Just ridiculous. Anyway! After I dropped my stuff off, we headed to Dawn's apartment to hang out. A few hours later the twins showed up. We played the longest game of Apples to Apples I think I've ever played. We decided Garrett won in the end because he had sssooo many of the green cards. It was a lot of fun. We played until 11 but then the twins decided it was time to go home. They were afraid their parents were going to get mad at them for staying out so late. The twins gave me a ride home, and they also gave me a ride to school this morning. It was much less stressful than trying to catch the bus. It's also raining again today, which just makes catching the bus that much more stressful. At least the weather isn't as bad as last week, though. No huge gusts of wind to soak me to the skin! Today marks my 7 year friendship anniversary with Dawn. I almost can't believe it's been that long! We don't know the exact day we met, we just know it was sometime in January. So we picked the 26th to be the date. Dawn wants to go do something today, but she's working at the preschool today and doesn't have a cell phone at the moment. I have no clue how I'm going to get a hold of her to figure out what she wants to do. Garrett said he was going to try and figure it out and then give me a call, but he hasn't called me yet. So, I have no idea what's going on right now. Oh, well. I'm sure we'll figure something out. Dawn suggested last night that we play disc hockey (???) but it's raining out, and I think it might be an outside game. Not quite sure about that, though. Hey, look at that! I was able to figure out something to write about! And now my fingers are nice and stretched out from all this horridly fast typing that I've been doing. I think I'm ready to take notes in Archaeology! Actually, I think we're allowed to take notes on our laptops. At least, I saw someone else last week using their laptop to take notes. I seem to take notes way faster on the laptop than on paper. But that's probably because I can type 3x as many words per minute on a laptop than I can write them on paper. I better go. I've only got 10 minutes left before I leave for class. a fast-typing karia_roses

First blog of 2010! Is it said two thousand ten or twenty ten? I like two thousand ten, but that's just my preference. Let's see... Finals week has long passed. I think I did reasonably well. I can't see my grades yet though because of some sort of financial hold on my record, which I think is from the Spring semester. I was freaking out because I thought it was a hold from last Fall, but I already paid off all my debts from then. I gotta remember to go talk with someone in the Admissions office or wherever and ask about that. Christmas vacation has already gone by. I got some REALLY awesome stuff for Christmas, but got mostly money. I got some clothes. The two major presents I got were a wireless microphone headset and a tablet. I've been using the tablet a lot for my artwork, and I think it's definitely improving my drawing skills on the computer. A few weeks ago, my computer got ANOTHER VIRUS. Yes, another one. It hasn't even been a year yet. This time was worse. The computer repair shop people had to actually reformat the computer to get it work at all. What's even worse is that I had to use my money from Christmas to pay for the repair. My parents couldn't help me this time. So now I have to start saving up for Fanime ALL OVER AGAIN. And it sucks. Speaking of Fanime, we got the group together over Christmas break. Dawn, Cassidy, Zach, Tailor, Dylan, Melissa, and me all met up at my house to discuss every aspect of Fanime that we could think about. Things like who is going up when, what cars we're taking, where we're staying, and who is going to have room keys were some of the things we talked about. We also went out shopping together to search for parts for costumes. We're doing a group cosplay from Digimon Season 2. Here's who is going as who: Dawn - Sora Takenouchi Cassidy - Matt Ishida Zach - Ken Ichijouji Me - Yolei Inoue Tailor - Kari Kamiya Dylan - TK Takaishi Melissa - Ladydevimon It's going to be AWESOME!!! Today was the first day of Spring semester! I had my Journalism class first. The teacher seems like a really nice guy. He really loves youtube videos and showed us a bunch of videos about the "pants on the ground" song from American Idol. He showed us how it originally showed up on American Idol, moved to youtube and then talk shows, and how a football player was videoed singing the song in the locker rooms after a game! Talk about funny! I have Archaeology next. I hope I'm going to like that class. Oh! I have THREE guy teachers this semester! I don't think I've EVER had so many male teachers before! Like, ever. It's really bizarre. I'm sure it won't be much different than having female teachers, but it's not something I'm used to. I want to sleep. I got up at 8 this morning so Mom could drop me off at the bus stop before 9. I got to school 30 minutes late though because the bus broke down before it reached my stop. And it's been raining on and off all week, and while I was waiting for the bus it was freakishly windy and rainy. The wind is supposed to get up to 70 mph, according to my Dad. It's quite scary. Right now is all calm though, and there's no rain. But just watch! When I need to go wait for the bus, it'll probably start pouring again. The power went out last night for like 30 minutes. It was HORRIBLE because I missed the last 20 minutes of Chuck. I was so mad. Now I'm going to have to see if I can find the episode online somewhere and watch it! I'm not even sure if Chuck can be found online. -sigh- Well, I better get going. I have class in half an hour. Whoo! a sleepy karia_roses

Monday November 30, 2009
Halloween was a whole month ago? Seriously? Time flies when you're having fun...or being bored, at least. Let's see what has happened since October. Hmm... Halloween was totally awesome! We didn't go trick-or-treating, but we got a bunch of trick-or-treaters! The costumes turned out awesome, as did the plushies. Though...I didn't actually finish helping Dawn with her Yokomon plushie until after all the guests arrived. Oh, well! Sometime during November, I returned to a messageboard that I'm a member of. I'd been absent from it for a few weeks. And boy, is that messageboard dying off! Originally I was part of a different messageboard dedicated to Digimon, but when it got hacked everything went down from there. All the members had to merge to a different messageboard. It was okay for a while. But, anyway, I posted a message saying I was back from my absence. On this messageboard, there is something called a Store where members can go and buy items with points that they earn. One of the items available is a tool that allows a member to change another member's signature (the thing that comes after a post). Well, someone went and changed MY signature and left a nasty note in its place. To say the least, I got pretty miffed about it. Okay, so here's a bit of back story to explain why I got so upset. See, on the Digimon website everyone was known for being a little crazy and insane. Me included. I was known as the girl with the flying pigs because I'd tend to post something about my imaginary flying pig "pets." So when we had to merge with the other messageboard, the flying pigs came with me. I spent some time fixing up my new signature with a picture of a flying pig with the names of all 28 of my flying pigs on it. I also included a list of which pigs were born to which pigs and such. And then I neglected to back up said signature. So, when I went back to the messageboard to see if anyone had replied to my post saying I'd come back...I saw my signature was completely gone and in its place was written, "Hope you can remember all their names!" Yeah. I got really angry and posted another message saying that I thought it was rude and I was upset because they'd made me lose everything I'd worked so hard on in my signature. To say the least, my signature isn't the same beautiful signature it used to be. My poor flying piggies. On a good note, I've been playing an awesome game. I'm not sure whether I've mentioned it yet or not. I've been playing since September, so maybe I have. The game is called WolfQuest, and basically all you do is run around as a wolf. There's Singleplayer and Multiplayer. Multiplayer allows you to run around with other people from around the world! I absolutely love the game! Well, after three or so months of playing WolfQuest...I decided to start my own pack! I found another player who agreed to act as my mate. Together, we put together rules and everything else needed for a pack. The pack is called Wolves of Wonder. I even made a pack website dedicated to the pack and its members! I play as RunaMoon, the alpha female of the pack. My mate is ColeMoon. After weeks of searching and getting headaches while trying to help people with the WolfQuest messageboard, we've got 8 members (not including me and my mate)!!! The only problem is that the guy who plays as my mate hasn't been online since early November. When I talked to him last, he told me he was having trouble getting onto the WolfQuest game and messageboard! We have each other on Google Talk, but whenever I get on he isn't on. I sent him an e-mail over the weekend and still haven't gotten a reply. I'm really worried about him because he is very ill, and there's a high possibility he is in the hospital or something even worse happened to him. I'm considering replacing him because of his long absence. He would totally understand and do the same thing if the situation was switched. And, of course, the moment he returned he would get his alpha spot back. I really don't want to replace him, but I'll do what I must in order to keep my pack going. Moving on again... I got to sign up for Spring 2010 classes! Once again, I have four classes. 12 units/credits, whatever you want to call them. Anyway, next semester's schedule looks something like this... Monday/Wednesday 12:00 - 1:20 Early Childhood Education 1:30 - 2:50 Economy Tuesday/Thursday 12:00 - 1:20 Journalism 3:00 - 4:20 Archaeology Yeah. The first Monday/Wednesday classes are classes I actually need. The last two are just to fill my parents' insurance requirement of 12 units/credits. Mom says this summer is going to be focused on getting me to drive and maybe find a job. Right, so I think this blog has gotten long enough. Notice how it says Monday AGAIN? I don't know what's up with the trend. Maybe it's because I get bored waiting for Dad on Mondays when Dawn can't give me a ride home, and I remember that I have this blog I can write on. That's probably it. Going now! Write again when I remember to. Finals week is coming up soon! AAAHHH! a slightly tired karia_roses

Monday October 26, 2009
Hmm...I need to stop blogging on Mondays. It's a little weird. Fun stuff happens on other days, but I've been posting only on Mondays lately. Well, this Monday wasn't so great. I missed ASL and an ASL quiz because Dawn and Cassidy's alarm clock stopped working. They didn't wake up until 9:00, which is 30 mins AFTER our class starts. To say the least, I was pretty frustrated. I waited for them, called them a dozen times (okay, like 3 times), and I just could not get hold of them. I didn't notice they called my cell phone until I was already on my way to the bus stop to get to school for my Biology class at 11:30. I called them back and found out from Dawn about the alarm clock. So, not that great of a morning. At least the lateness allowed me to check the Biology class webpage and see that I had some handouts to print off for today. Big help, definitely! We went down to Grandma's house last weekend for Chris and Denise's birthday party. Chris didn't play with Nikolas and the other little kids much, so I got to be the one to play with them. They played with Zoey's expanding ball toy and forced me to help them play hide-and-seek. We got to bring the leftover cake home! Chocolate and lemon cake!!! Only problem is that the plastic wrap peeled off some of the frosting. Dawn sent me a message via myspace on Friday because Cassidy's phone wasn't working at the time, and she needed me to get hold of Zach so he could help her work on her Yokomon plushie. (Which, by the way, will be finished by Halloween...if some miracle pops up.) I didn't get it until late Sunday night. So, yeah, I doubt Yokomon is going to be finished in time for Halloween. My Terriermon, on the other hand, should be done by then. I just have to sew the two pieces together. Oh, that reminds me...I need to talk to Zach and see what days he has off this week. He had some idea how to do Terriermon's ears differently than how I did them on Lopmon. It had better be done by Halloween! I don't have school Friday, and Halloween is Saturday...so I should be able to finish Terriermon in time! I can't wait for Halloween!!! Dawn is having a party at her house. Have I mentioned that yet? I don't remember. Anyway, we're watching scary movies and handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. I can't wait to see all the little kids in their costumes! After the party, we're going to a haunted house made by Dawn's mom's friend. I can't wait! It's going to be so much fun! I'm going to take lots of pics of us in awesome poses!!! I don't have anything else to talk about. I still have 2 hours before Dad comes to pick me up. Ugh. an excited karia_roses
